Great read. A lesson one might take away from your experience is that the more tightly one holds to a toxic Christianity (or Judaism or Islam or name-your-poison), the more likely it is that severe developmental trauma (or mental illness) is a factor.

I get that understanding that trauma is an important part of understanding their poisonous theology but it doesn't negate the fact that people who have been harmed too often harm others....one way or another.
