I'm sorry you had to go through all that. I teach at Kent State University and, with your permission, would like to use your story as an example of toxic cultures.
My first clue as to what was going on was "my fourth boss in 12 months". We can call it "restructuring" or whatever, but, at the bottom, it's "nobody up top knows what the hell he or she is doing".
The second clue was that Janet was allowed to say, about a colleague, "didn't understand why they still kept me" more than one time. In a positive culture, someone is quick to say, "That's not how we do things here. If we have a problem with a colleague, we talk directly with them."
Again, I'm sorry that you found yourself in that sick, dysfunctional organization culture. I hope you're not there any longer.
