It's a term I use admittedly loosely but it gets at the point you made about folks writing about writing. Those "How I Earned Six Figures Last Month on Medium" articles are clickbait. The plethora of "Trump Sucks" and "Biden Stinks" political articles are all click bait.

I've often thought to try something of a A/B test...post two articles, one carefully researched and well written on, say, Trump's foreign policy, another that's titled "Trump Embarrassed Us In Front of The World" and includes no links to see which gets more claps and comments.
