Well done. As your excellent overview of circumstances and events alludes, the media have shown not a whit of interest in what's going on in Afghanistan until President Biden's decision to stick with the flawed agreements of the Trump administration with the Taliban. (Remember the outrage when that administration freed 5000 hardened Taliban fighters and got nothing in return? Me neither.)

The media had lost interest in that war and are now being altogether dishonest in their reporting of the withdrawal (with the exception of a few outlets).
